It is a commitment found throughout UTMB’s laboratories: to push forward the frontiers of biomedical knowledge and pioneer new approaches to improving human health. The new Research Building is key to making those advances possible.
With 140,000 total square feet, the facility will increase the university’s research capacity by approximately 15 percent. It will be constructed at a total cost of $90 million: $30.5 million from the Permanent University Fund, $29.5 million from other sources and $30 million from private philanthropy.
Designed to harness the power of shared ideas, the Research Building will facilitate interaction among researchers and clinicians, promoting the kind of collaboration that accelerates discovery and secures UTMB’s place among the most productive biomedical research enterprises in the nation.
