Apr 20, 2012 - The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston officially broke ground Friday, April 20, 2012, on a new hospital designed to promote a team-based approach to care and provide a modern medical facility for patients and future healthcare workers.

Oct 20, 2011 - UTMB Health is proceeding with plans to build a new hospital after the UT System Board of Regents gave its approval and the Galveston-based Sealy & Smith Foundation pledged $170 million toward the project. On Oct. 19, UTMB Leadership held a ceremony outside the Waverly Smith Pavilion to commemorate the demolition of the Old Jennie Sealy Hospital site.
